Tasting Notes: A beautiful purple red with purple reflections. Intense and complex, the nose is dominated by aromas of fresh fruit (blackcurrant, black cherry) mixed with subtle woody notes. A minty, fresh side develops, accompanied by a touch of liquorice. The attack is direct and rounded. This is followed by a fat, serious mouth, with a dense and velvety tannic texture, accompanied by a balanced natural acidity, which gives this wine a beautiful freshness.
Pairings: Excellent with grilled meat and cheeses.
The Cellar: Baron Edmond de Rothschild acquired Château Clarke and Château Malmaison in 1973 and founded the "Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild. The ancient vineyard was replanted and completely renovated between 1974 and 1978 until the final result of a 54 hectare wine area. Since the first vintage of Château Clarke, bottled in 1978, the quality of the wine has never stopped improving. Benjamin Rothschild acquired Château des Laurets in 2003 with the aim of fully exploiting the potential of the 86 hectares located between Puissegain Saint -Emilion and the Montagne Saint-Emilion.
